STUDENTS

The student ministry at DBC includes students from grades 6-12 and college students. We are striving to provide a balanced offering of ministry opportunities that appeal to a variety of students, from those who are seeking God to those who are developing a deeper relationship with Him.

Sunday Bible Study
Sunday mornings are a time of discipleship and fellowship. Our Sunday Bible study groups meet together for a brief time of fellowship and encouragement before splitting off into grade-based classes. Grades 6-8 are taught in grade-specific classes at 9:00 am in the ARC. Grades 9-12 are taught in co-ed grade-based classes for part of the year, and optional elective classes at 9:00 am in the ARC. Currently we are utilizing materials from LifeWay entitled LifeTrac, Vital Truth, Vital Skills & Vital Character. These studies are divided by older and younger youth age groups and provide an outstanding interactive and in-depth study of the Word with practical applications. Optional classes are sometimes offered to discuss unique issues and subjects.

Youth SIGN Team
S.I.G.N. stands for Serving In God's Name. Our Youth S.I.G.N. team is for students in Grades 9-12. They meet weekly to work on developing sign language interpretation to traditional and contemporary Christian music. They perform several times throughout the year in the main worship service, special events and youth services. They are active during the school year beginning in the fall, taking a break for summer.

Youth-Led Worship
Our youth-led worship is a student-focused, Christ-centered worship and praise celebration for all ages, offered once a quarter on Sunday evenings. We recognize the need for students to express themselves and worship in a way that is unique to their generation. Extreme Faith utilizes contemporary Christian music, drama, videos and other resources to worship and praise our God.

Take A Stand
Our Wednesday night celebration is just that. A time for students in grades 6-12 to celebrate and learn what it means to Take A Stand in our world today for Jesus Christ. Games, skits, videos and testimonies spice up this primarily youth-led celebration. This is a time of encouragement and non-threatening Christian discipleship. The hope is that our students will use this as a time to bring along their unchurched friends to hear about our Lord and Savior in a fresh new light.

GROW Outreach
Our students are encouraged to join a once-a-month GROW team. Each Tuesday night a different team meets to call, write and visit prospects and members so that we might extend Christ-like love to them.

Small Group Discipleship
On a regular ongoing basis there are various small group discipleship classes for students to be involved in. These vary from open, student-led, in-home groups to closed, small accountability groups. Their start-up and ending times and locations vary based upon the study.

Along with these on-going ministry opportunities there are other events over the course of the year; the following are just a few of the many events that we are involved in:
Youth Mission Trip
Our 2008 summer mission event is a World Changers trip June 20-28. World Changers is a student mission activity in conjunction with NAMB. Students work on construction and home repair projects that are needed in the community and meet together each evening for a time of worship and praise. It is available to students who have completed the 9th grade through college.

Youth Summer Camp
Our 2008 youth camp trip will take place July 20-25. This year we will be going to Crossings @ Jonathan Creek.  For more information, visit www.crossingsministries.org.

Retreats
Each year there are several opportunities for students to attend weekend retreats that are intended to encourage them in their walk with Jesus Christ. These retreats typically take place during the fall, winter and spring on weekends throughout the school year.

Misc. Events May Include:
True Love Waits, Back to S'cool, Hayride, See You at the Pole, White Water Rafting, Snow Skiing, Concerts, Graduation Recognition

The ARC
In the early part of 2001, DBC purchased the property across Coffman Road from the church (formerly Dublin Church of the Nazarene) and turned it into the Activity and Recreation Center. This unique facility has a combination gymnasium/auditorium and several classrooms. It currently is being used by our Student Ministry for Sunday Bible studies for over 100 students, Sunday afternoon youth ministry teams, Monday Boy Scout Troop 356 meetings, Tuesday open gyms, and Wednesday youth Take A Stand, as well as special events. In the Old Testament, God provided Noah and his family with the Ark to protect them from the upcoming storms, brought on by the world's corruption. We believe that God has provided DBC with the ARC to help shelter our students from the storms that they face in today's world.
